'Enabling Works' were completed at the Lion Salt Works at the begining of December, to make the site safe, dismantle unsafe structures and remove contamination. A major part of the work focused on the dismantling of Stove House 5 and its storage for rebuilding as part of Phase 2 restoration works. The works will provide safe access for architects to fully cost the restoration works and to prepare tender documents to be produced.
Work on site was carried out by William Anelay Ltd, speciaists in repairing historic buildings. They recently were involved in works at Victoria Baths, Manchester who won the first series of the BBC TV building series RESTORATION.
